How many people have actually rated the salon. A 5.0 from 400 clients is stronger proof than a 5.0 from five, so a deep, recent review history lifts a salon's position.
Whether clients come back. Rebooking is the clearest signal a colorist delivers — anyone can win a first visit, but repeat clients mean the results and the experience hold up.
Depth in a specialty — balayage, color correction, blonding, curly and textured hair, extensions. We favor salons with demonstrated, specialized skill over generalists.

We currently cover New York and Los Angeles and only include salons with enough verified reviews to score fairly. If a salon is missing, it may be new, outside our cities, or awaiting more reviews.
